A half-day training session focusing on OVIDSP.

NHS Scotland Training Class Outline

Designed for speed, simplicity, and precision, OvidSP incorporates all of the search and discovery functionality of Ovid Gateway and SilverPlatter with new time-saving workflow tools, an intuitive interface, and even more sophisticated search technology for a faster, simpler, more streamlined search experience. Whether they’re expert or beginning searchers, end users want to find and evaluate quickly the high-quality content they’re seeking. OvidSP enhances the best of both Ovid and SilverPlatter with new powerful functionality that simplifies the entire search and discovery process, generating the precise, relevant results users have always received from Ovid faster than ever before.

The training session will last approximately 90 minutes and will cover, amongst other, the following aspects:

• How to use everyday, natural language to search across journals, books, and databases and retrieve relevance ranked results

• How to search high-quality content using your preferred search mode whether you’re a novice searcher or an information professional

• View abstracts inline with your search results to speed evaluation

• Simultaneously search across electronic books, journals, and databases

• Set up customized content update alerts—AutoAlerts and eTOCs—via RSS feed

• Streamline research with one-click tagging and annotation to your results

• An update on new features of the OVIDSP platform



The training will take place as follows:

INVERNESS - 27th October 2008. 1-3pm. Venue: Training suite, Highland Health Sciences Library, Centre for Health Science, Old Perth Road, IV2 3JH

ABERDEEN - 28th October 2008. Morning session, 10am-12pm. Venue: The Staff Room, IT Training Room, Ground Floor, Westburn Centre, Westburn Road, AB25 2ZN

Virtual training

A number of online tutorials for Wiley which includes a section on the Cochrane Library are now available via the e-Library.

New dates have also been added for the Refworks online training which includes a new 15 minute session.
